Beans & Wieners

This was a favorite post idea and one that I regret not keeping up on because my boys say the funniest things!

Jill had a friend over one day and Jace wanted to show her our pet frogs. As they were quietly standing over the aquarium with their hands in their pockets, he says, "Yep, look at them, look at those bodies."

What a kid!

What's Your Happiest Moment?

My sweet daughter took me to lunch this afternoon. On our way back we were talking about her dad and how one of his old work buddies, Neal, had died in a farm accident. A couple of days prior, he had sent Dave some pictures of him and his boy and had described one of the pictures as being one of his happiest moments.

I asked Jill if she had a "happiest moment" and through tears, this is what she said...

"Mom, do you remember when we went to Disneyland and were watching the parade through Main Street? Remember when Timone from the Lion King walked by and gave Dax a big hug? That was my happiest moment."

Dang if I can't find the picture, but this was them in Disneyland.

WOW! I have to say I was a bit surprised it involved her brother and was something that happened nearly 6 years ago. She asked me what my happiest moment was and I told her I have many; marriage, the birth of my kids, spending time around the dinner table with my family, Christmas, Easter... I have soooo many happy moments, not one better than the next.

What's your happiest moment?

Public Declaration

"It's easy to be committed to your relationship when it's going well," said senior study author Thomas Bradbury, a psychology professor who co-directs the Relationship Institute. "As a relationship changes, however, shouldn't you say at some point something like, 'I'm committed to this relationship, but it's not
going very well — I need to have some resolve, make some sacrifices and take the steps I need to take
to keep this relationship moving forward. It's not just that I like the relationship, which is true, but that I'm going to step up and take active steps to maintain this relationship, even if it means I'm not going to get
my way in certain areas'?
"This," Bradbury said, "is the other kind of commitment: the difference between 'I like this relationship and I'm committed to it' and 'I'm committed to doing what it takes to make this relationship work.' When you and your partner are struggling a bit, are you going to do what's difficult when you don't want to?

Yes!
Yes!
Justin, I have always loved you and I always will.

Hakuna Matata!

Justin and I have had a tough year and just when I said things couldn't get any worse, our refrigerator decided to spring a leak. Thankfully we have a four year old with impeccable hearing...
"Grandma, I hear something downstairs."

 Under the fridge.

The ceiling after we had drained it.

Ceiling?

I am thinking about just being done with having a fridge. Remember this from 2 years ago?

Here we go again!

My cousin Jaimee committed to another 365 days of blogging and reading it has made me realize how much I miss doing it but even more how much I have "missed out" by not doing it.

I can't tell you how many times I have said, "that's blog worthy" only to forget later on what had happened. Blogging daily forced me to remember and then record even the simplest things. When I look back on 2010, I am so thankful to have memories (that I would have otherwise forgotten) at my fingertips.

So look out, I am brushing the dust off my keyboard and camera!
