I am sure every woman would agree...
If I am over the age of 40 and do not want any more children, why do I still have to suffer through bleeding, zits, mood swings, cramping, bloating, and everything else associated with "the cycle"? Why do I have to wait another 10+ years, just to go through ANOTHER long, drawn out and friendly reminder that I am a woman, only to retire and die... lonely?
Why hasn't some smart woman invented the "switch"? I WANT TO KNOW!!
Thankfully, I have a full bag of chips and a diet soda tonight... or else.

Happy 3rd Birthday Jace!
I just love this little boy. He is so funny and sweet. There is nothing like walking through the door and having him run up, put his arms around my neck, and give me a big squeeze.
Dax had to convince Jace to lick one of the beaters after mixing the cake batter. He really prefers to lick it after I have whipped potatoes.
Just take the dang picture mom so I can open my presents!
I really enjoy having family come over to celebrate birthdays. Although it's cramped and there's a whole lot of noise, when it's all said and done, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Toothless
Dax lost his first front tooth over Christmas break and then lost the other one this morning. Looking cute, talking funny...

Brrrr, it's cold!
Every winter for the last 18 years I have been asked repeatedly why I don't wear a jacket. Honestly, I don't really find -4 to be too cold in comparison to the -15 to -35 I survived in the Great White North as a kid. You might laugh at Ralphie's little brother, Randy, in "A Christmas Story" but that is what I lived walking to school in Edmonton 8 months out of the year. Ok, I was exaggerating a bit, it was only 6!Nosecicles, frost on my glasses and heaven forbid I had to pee really bad when I got home 'cause it was at least 20 minutes to get the outerwear off!
I was telling Justin tonight that you could drive your car without putting your hands on the wheel because your tires just followed the ice ruts on the road.
I also told him that when I first moved here, my neighbors laughed at me when I plugged my car in during the winter. All cars bought in Edmonton had block heaters installed and apartment complexes and busy shopping malls all had receptacles you could plug your car into. My car always turned over in the winter.

Homework Hell
Does a 1st grader really need 2 hours worth of homework every night? I do realize it is important for kids to develop good study habits early on. I can understand the value in reading, practicing writing, reviewing simple math and having weekly sight words, but all in one evening and every night?
I don't remember doing homework until I was in middle school and I turned out allr... ok, never mind.

Pet Peeve #18 - Snacks
I don't snack like I used to but every once in a while I will get a craving (usually for something salty) and I will let myself take unrestrained pleasure in eating until I burst. Yesterday I was doing some grocery shopping and bought a bag of ruffled sour cream and onion chips. I was so looking forward to getting the kids to bed, cracking a diet cherry Pepsi and indulging. This brought to mind...
Pet Peeve #18 - Snacks (or lack of them)
One draw back to having 3 "sneaky" males in the house... the snacks don't last long. Silly me opened the bag this afternoon and gave my boys a few chips with their lunch. What I didn't know is they never made it back to the cupboard! Gone. All of them. I can't even find the empty bag. Seriously? So here I sit, a little pissed off, and nothing to cure my craving.

Happy New Year!
And so it begins...
I am looking forward to another event filled year. My first resolution will be to get this blog up and going again. I have taken a couple of months off and have come to realize how important it is for me to keep this up to date. I haven't taken many pictures, I have forgotten some of the very cute things my kids have said and done, and my family and friends have missed being an indirect part of my life. Even though some days it was like pulling teeth to think of something to write about, I honestly miss it.
